Hello all,, I got introduced to gtjc today by mark, he is my dads neighbor! Saw the hood up on the rubi today and thought I'd scurry down for a chat. He told me all about the club and it def sounds like some fun! I've always been a fast car (mustang) guy, and about two years ago the 4wd bug hit me hard. I just can't see myself crossing the traps at 120 mph in my little notchback with a 5 month old and a 5 yr old at home that depend on my well being!lol. So after some lengthy YouTube sessions and some research I decided that a cherokee would be a good driver/wheeler/kid hauler platform to work with. So I ended up with a bone stock 93 zj grand cherokee with the 4.0 231 (rare in a zj) transfer case, and little slick street tires! This thing only had 87,000 on the clock though so I knew it wasn't hurt. It has transformed into one of my favorite toys I've ever had. So far it has recieved a ironrockoffroad 4" lift with double shear adjustable track bars front and back with nitrogen shocks, a home made winch mount with tow points, a milemarker 12000 lb winch that I havnt gotten mounted up yet, and bfg 32x11.5 at/ko's. last winter the trans let go on me and instead of rebuilding I ran across a 93 v8 zj with a rough body but good motor and trans for less than I could rebuild the 4.0 trans, so thus began the v8 swap. Took me bout a month of profanity and Internet referencing but I got it done. I even used my 231 selectable xfer case after swapping input shafts, def didn't want the crappy awd 249 case! But that is what stage it's at now, but have a lot more mods coming shortly (long arm kit & lockers). Guess I could be driving a nice new z71 or somthing that never sees dirt or mud, but what fun would that be?? It ain't a wrangler but its definitely a beast with the 318 magnum under hood now! I look forward to meeting you guys and doing some family , and some daddy time wheeling! P.s. mark,,, ill snatch that little red rubi of that tree for u next time!lol
