So, I get home tonight and notice the two little lights under my dash (95 YJ) are on. What the heck? I figure I hit the switch as I got out of the seat. Umm, no. The head lights are off and the roller thing/switch is not all the way up. I've got a dinner date with my youngest so didn't have much time to debug, but I did verify the overhead light was also stuck on, the dashboard lights go up and down with the roller, and there is a click where the roller is supposed to turn these lights on. I finally just rolled down a sleeve and unscrewed the bulbs. But, what the heck! What would make the lights come on and stay on? Anyone seen anything like this?

Yep, been off for a month. I take them off every summer and haven't had this happen before. But, I didn't think of that. I think there is a button.

Pull #10 fuse. Lights will go off but still work with the headlight knob. Jeep already thought of this. Another method is run wire to one side of fuse to external fuse then to switch then out of switch to other side of fuse. Mount switch and turn on or off if doors on or off.

Not sure if it's the same fuse # on yj. In the tj it's behind the glovebox.

Thanks for the info, I'll do that. Do you mind explaining what's going on, though. Seems odd to pull the fuse to make the lights work correctly? What does the fuse actually control?
I did check the switches on the door frame and realize they've always been unconnected since I've owned the jeep.

Jeep made doors removable and realized the light issue so they put a fuse in to override the door switch. It should show in owners manual under door removal. Should be in yjs too.

Thanks for the information! I went out to pull the fuse and the problem had fixed itself. Self correcting....

Maybe. I would look further to make sure nothing burned up and make sure it is working correctly. Dont want it to come back and kill your battery.

Yeah, good suggestions. I'll find the fuse.
