I wonder where's the line between fabricator and just plain cheap. I needed a shackle for the traction bar with one end to attach to a bushing and the other the heim on the bar itself, so why not break out the plasma and turn a 30 min job to a two hour job Attachments:

Why buy, if you have the means and the know-how to build....

Two hours for a 10 dollar part, and only got 5 hours of sleep plus materials.

I would have done the same any day of the week. Only, I don't have a plasma and would have had to cut it out with an angle grinder and it would have taken twice as long.

You would think the plasma would save some time, but I could make it take twice as long as it shoud. I've cut a lot of my brackets out with the grinder and flap wheel.

Traction bar is done and all welded in. I had welding under a vehicle, even more with the gas tank inches above. I guess the rock sliders will be next if I don't sell it. I work on it more than I use it! Attachments:

Took the jeep around the house thru the ditches and it hooks so much better, no more axle wrap.

Well, the yj is gone. I traded it for a Toyota truck, we'll see how this turns out.
