The check engine light came on in my daughters 04 TJ today. The Advanced Auto guy said it was caused by cylinder 3 misfire. I have little knowledge about engines.
1. Is this a one time event and it won't happen again? 2. Can I fix it with a new spark plug or cable? 3. Is it a simple problem I can trouble shoot myself and fix? 4. Is this going to cost me major dollars?

Same problem here on 01 TJ. But there is a fix. It's a $5 part that you can order from Carl Hogan. Small piece of insulation that goes into manifold hole that covers the 3 injector. Just got mine last week and have yet to install it. Mines been doing it a while...

Great! Do you have a link to the info on the part or more on the problem?

I forgot to bring it yesterday, so still haven't put mine in. I was desperate for a fix before I ordered it and it helps... Sounds odd... But I took some blow in insulation from attic and wrapped in aluminum foil flat. Tucked it under and around injector and haven't had any issues.

Sounds like you know what your doing. when is it missing constant or just under certain conditions.

There was no electrical problems when the other motor was in there I heard a tick in the valve cover that has me wondering it may be a valve spring. Also it misses under load up to 2500 rpms then after that seems fine until I shift.
