I'm getting ready to buy a 12 and up jku and I have been debating on wether to get a rubicon or just a sport jku I won't be wheeling with this jeep as it will be my everyday driver I have my tj for that. I like all the features of course of a rubicon but if I'm not going to be wheeling it I don't know if I can justify getting a rubicon. For the money I'll save I can add the stance and look that I want. What are y'all's thoughts and opinions. I don't do a lot of towing but I have a 25 John deere tractor that I normally haul 2-3 a year for food plots and it's no more than 10miles away it weights with front end loader and equipment around 2800-3500 lbs at the most. I just figured I would throw that out there to see if y'all think it will make a difference. I'm just kinda torn between both of them

I'd say just get the Sport.... personally, I wouldn't spend the extra money if you don't plan on offloading it at all. Use the monetary difference to add the extras

Either way is not bad. Just make sure it has all the features you want. That's how I ended up with a Sahara. I couldn't swing a payment on the rubicon but I did want some of the comforts it offered.

Same tow cap on both. Price diff is for offroad tcase, front d44, & wheels/tires and rubi stickers. The stickers are really expensive. ?. If you have the money go for it. If not gonna wheel it go sport S. If you wanna go over 35" tires go sport.

I won't be wheeling it at all as it will be my daily driver but I am going to put a lift kit with 35's on it. I don't want it plain jane but it doesn't have to be all suped up neither that's just a lot of extra money (is what I'm thinking) for something that I'm not going to be using a lot.

I'd go rubicon, but I find it easy to spend someone else's $. I bought a sport JKU myself only bc I'm cheap and have 2 toy jeep for crawling.

Dan I have a TJ for wheeling so I'll probably end up doing the same thing. I always find myself trying to spend someone else's money lol

Kris mine is a sport and modded and I love it. Would it be nice to have lockers - yes, but realistically, you can install them on a sport down the road and essentially have a Rubicon... It's all about what you want and I'm perfectly happy with my modded sport. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how far the Jeeps have come since their redesign in '12 - Rubicon or Sport, you'll be happy. You already have a Jeep, so you know that a Jeep is a Jeep - what's not to like?

That's the route I went..so far, no regrets. I originally wanted a 2 door, but after getting my 4 door, I'm glad I did end up with the 4 door. I think you'll be perfectly happy with it.

You can find a used rubicon for about the price of a new 4 door, a used 4 door sport is still pushing 30 as long as it doesn't have 100k miles.

I would recommend the sport for a mall krawler. Leaves more money for mods which are a must. The rubicon is great if you planned on wheeling it (which you said you didn't) but I've heard the factory lockers won't hold anything aggressive that's larger than a 35".

That's what I've been reading as well and I at least want to put a lift with 35's maybe bigger with the highline fenders or flat fenders
