Ok my battery is not up for the job of winching. Going to replace it before Hawk Pride, the question is should I go with the deep cycle yellow top optima or is that over kill. Want a good bat just don’t know if I need to spend that much to get the job done.

I replaced mine with a deep cycle from WalMart. Will always be close to one if there's a problem while it's still under warranty. Was about $105 without core. No troubles at all.

I had a optima for years, it was still going sting in my jeep when I sold it. It lasted longer than anything else I've ever owned.

I've heard that the Optima's are not as good as they used to be.

I'm going to go with an optima mine has been acting up here lately and if I don't drive it of crank it after a fee days I have to jump it off. I wish I would have bought one a couple of months ago they had the red tops at autozone in West Point for 80.00 ??

I heard optima quality has gone down hill. The red top are not deep cycle and are not rated for heavy loads like winches might want to re think your choice.

Yeah I've heard that but a buddy of mine has one and has had it for a couple of years now and he swears by it. But then again he doesn't have a winch and lights. Might just do the Wally World battery then. Thanks for the input

i run an Optima blue top on my 3 car hauler and have NP whatsoever;!!!!! 12k winch pulling total wrecks over 50 feet every day for bout 16 months. Even toasted a winch....battery still LIKE NEW..........The secrect to effecient winching is proper battery cables, tite clean connections and at least a 100 amp alternator.

I agree that high resistance in a winch circuit is a killer. Don't think an alt upgrade is needed for no more than I'm going to use it. looking into a ac delco and if that does not pan out going with the sears die-hard deep cycle. I see allot of iffy info one the optima Bat lately

I have red top in my jeep and every time try to use my winch it starts to die and warning lights came on. Put a marine battery from Walmart and I can use the winch all day without it trying to die.

I'm going with a dual post. Don't know which one I'll get yet. I'm tired of the winch connector causing bad connection on my top post and having to wiggle it to crank up every morning.
