Alright. Officially announcing my new jeep. It's time to start my build thread on my new toy. It's a 1995 cherokee with 4 in procomp lift and a welded rear end with 33 in mud tires. The majority of the body has been removed and had a toyota hood welded on a homemade crappy roll cage. When I got it Sunday the front brakes were locking up, the body was pretty ugly, seats were dirty, mud everywhere, and had no seat belts. A quick run to the junk yard fixed the seatbelt problem and brakes. We serviced the engine today and removed the toyota hood from the roof. We also stated the painting and finished body work. The only thing left for the immediate future is putting everything together, finishing paint, modifying bumpers, some electrical work, installing lights, making some sort of soft top, and a shakedown run. Don't have many pics now because not much has changed, but more pics are on the way now that all the little stuff is out of the way. And some of my pics r too big.

From that one angle, looks like its gonna need some cage work.....I may be able to help designing some sort of top for it.

I've been wanting a Cherokee crawler for a while and most can be bought way cheaper than a similarly built CJ or wrangler. I need something to fit 5 and would like to have heat and air. It's just something about going topless.

Ok. The XJ finally has a name. Adohi. A Native American cherokee name for woods. Originally picked it because it was spelt Adahy which was supposed to mean "lives in the woods". But after learning that this is not a real word, I found Adohi which hopefully was the original Native American meaning.

Talking about thinking outside the box, looks like the cage has a B and C pillar but no A. Your more than welcome to use my bender to create something with a little more substance.

Ya I've talked to a couple people about strengthening it up for the time being but eventually it will get a complete nice cage. I don't trust it at all. C-pillars are just welded to sheet metal on the rear quarter and go through and sit on the inner fender. Then the b-pillar is just welded to the old spot. And all of the tubes were flat cut and just welded on the sides. There are also random holes from whatever the cage used to be. Hopefully some patch work from somebody who knows what they're doing will do until I can afford a real cage.

Alright. The first ride went great. Found out that that the passenger cv joint pops a little. Besides that ...I haven't found anything that I didn't already know about.
